An A&E for our valleys

The over-centralisation of hospital services has left many people in our communities vulnerable, and we need a new A&E for the valleys, just as we were promised when Caerphilly Miners’ Hospital was closed.

I’ve long campaigned for Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr to be made a general hospital, which is what was originally intended, and we need better transport links for patients across Blaenau Gwent and the Rhymney Valley to be able to access hospital services.

At a time when ambulance waiting times are at a record high, we must ensure that people in our valleys can access emergency care when they need it.
